Biography

Professor Maha Khaled obtained her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1987. She later worked at leading medical institutions across Saudi Arabia, including major hospitals and academic centers in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province. In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, she held research and advisory positions with the Saudi Medical Research Council, the Saudi Heart Association, and collaborated with regional academic funding bodies such as the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).

She worked as a thoracic and general surgeon at leading medical institutions in northern Saudi Arabia and was later appointed as a senior researcher at the Medical Research Institute affiliated with one of the national medical universities. Her primary clinical focus was on oesophageal surgery. She continued in this role until relocating to a major academic hospital in Riyadh in early 1992.

Research interests
